School Bus Services

Terms and Conditions

1. To book a place on any of the bus routes, please complete an application form and return it to the Accounts Office at St Hilary’s School. Application forms may be obtained from the Accounts Office.

2. Places on the buses will be issued on a first come first served basis. Applications will be numbered on receipt.

3. Payment for the service is termly in advance. When starting part way through a term, the charge will be added to the following term’s bill in arrears.

4. All parents of children using the buses are required to commit to a term’s use of the service, five days per week. There is no refund for missed days. Towards the end of each term parents will be required to sign up for the following terms bus. Once signed up parents will be committed to paying for that terms usage.

5. The service will only be available for pre-booked places, and additional friends, who might be travelling in with your child on any particular day, may only be accommodated if there is space and it has been agreed with the Accounts Office beforehand.

6. It is expected that the only adult on the coach will be the driver. He or she will be responsible for discipline on the bus, but will report any problems to the Schools for action. Our drivers are employees of the school and hold relevant DBS checks.

7. St Hilary’s School cannot be held responsible for the lateness or delay of the services due to traffic, road works or weather conditions. It is the parents responsibility to wait with their child, until the child has boarded the bus.

8. In the mornings children should aim to arrive at their stop 5 minutes prior to the timetabled arrival time. The drivers will not be able to wait for late-comers.

9. If a minibus arrives early at a stop it is required to wait until the timetabled time before it continues.

10. Children should wait at timetabled stops only.

11. School buses are contracted to have seat belts. It is a condition of use of the bus that students use the seatbelt throughout the journey. Failure to adhere to this requirement will lead to withdrawal from the bus service.

12. Please let the School know if your child will be carrying bulky luggage (e.g. a cello) as we may need to make special arrangements.

13. The School cannot be held responsible for the loss of a child’s property, although every effort will be made to recover it.

14. Requests for changes to routes or timings should be put in writing to the Accounts Office at St Hilary’s School only. These will be reviewed annually and you will be notified if there are any problems in meeting those requests.
