Pastoral Care
Responsibility for pastoral care is shared by all staff at St Hilary’s.
The happiness, success, safety and welfare of each child are of paramount importance to us. Our aim is to foster positive and trusting relationships so that children can confidently make the most of the opportunities on offer in school.
In EYFS and Pre-Prep, pastoral care is undertaken mainly by each child’s class teacher, with whom they spend most of the day. They have a vision of every aspect of their pupils’ progress, both academic and social and work closely with parents to aid children’s development at every stage.
In Prep, our Form Tutors take the lead in pastoral matters; they meet with their children every morning at Registration and at intervals throughout the day. They monitor closely any changes in mood and behaviour and help children develop the skills they need to stay safe and healthy, to understand right from wrong and to become confident and responsible young people. We urge parents to consult with Form Tutors first about any issues relating to the welfare of their children.
