Mr Thompson’s career was in information technology and business management working in various sectors. Immediately before retiring he was IT director for MSAS, a global logistics business, now incorporated into DHL.
Since retiring, his passion for education has led him to become actively involved with his local school in Shackleford, St Mary’s Infant School, where he has been a governor for the past seven years and is currently Chairman.
Mr Thompson has a BSc in Management Sciences from the University of Warwick and an MBA from Henley Business School.

Alison has a masters degree from King’s College London & the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and has followed a career in communications and public relations for more than twenty years. Her two daughters attended St Hilary’s School and both flourished during their years there. Her interests include performing arts, history and language.
 


Dr C McShane

Claire is Headmistress at St Teresa’s School, Effingham. She is also a teacher of Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Civilisation, and is the Head of the Classics Department. She is also involved in boarding duties, and lives onsite.
Claire read Medieval Literature at University College, Oxford and took an M.Phil in Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Queens’ College, Cambridge, before completing her PhD at Edinburgh University. In her spare time she enjoys literature, quizzing, opera and the theatre.
 


Dr M Patel

Mina qualified as a dentist from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Dental School in 1999 with Honours. In 2016 she completed a Diploma in Endodontic Practice at the Eastman Dental Institute, UCL London.

She works as general dental practitioner within Surrey. She lives locally and has a daughter that attended St. Hilary’s School. She enjoys the outdoors, travelling, yoga and painting both abstract and landscape.

Dr Patel is the governor responsible for Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.


Mrs V Powell

Mrs Powell is a retired music teacher, teaching general music for seven years in maintained schools and then for 33 years taught piano at Lanesborough School, Guildford. She is now involved with music societies in the locality and extremely keen on the performing arts, travel and sport. Her two daughters attended St Hilary's School.

Mrs Powell is the governor responsible for the Early Years (EYFS).


Professor N Rickman

BSc (Hons), PhD Economics

Neil is a Professor of Economics at the University of Surrey.  He and his wife (Arabella) have lived in Guildford for nearly 20 years, and both their daughters attended Guildford schools before starting at university this Autumn.  Neil enjoys hiking, sailing and making use of his Leeds United season ticket whenever possible.  

Professor Rickman attends the Finance Committee.
 


Mrs S Sims

Mrs Sims trained at Homerton College, Cambridge, securing a certificate in education in 1976 and a bachelor in education degree from Newnham College. She has recently retired as Head of Art at a girls' prep school in Surrey. Mrs Sims has two daughters, enjoys pilates, arts and crafts, visits to antique fairs in search of pieces to renovate, walking and cycling.

Mrs Sims is the governor responsible for Staff Liaison.

Adrian studied Law and French Law at Exeter University and then obtained a Masters in European Law from Rennes University. He qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and is the head of the Corporate M&A and ECM team at Travers Smith. He lives locally and his three daughters attended St. Hilary's school. Adrian enjoys cycling, sailing, walking his dog and supporting Southampton Football club.
 


Mrs L Wilkins

MA

Louisa read Geography at St Andrews.  She now teaches Geography at Charterhouse and is senior tutor, overseeing the academic performance of all pupils in the school as well as the delivery of tutoring by colleagues.  She has also coached hockey, netball and tennis to both male to all age groups at the school.  Her interests include travel, sport and reading. 

Mrs Wilkins is the governor responsible for Safeguarding.
